CWG 2022: Indian Grappler Divya Kakran Clinches Bronze

Indian wrestler Divya Kikaran won the bronze medal in the women’s freestyle 68kg event at the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022 by defeating Tonga’s Tiger Lily Kakar Limali at the Coventry Arena Wrestling Meet B here on Friday. In the bronze medal match, Cochran defeated Limali 2-0. Cockran won the medal in just 26 seconds with a victory byfall. The fifth wrestling medal of the day took India’s tally to 25 at Birmingham 2022.

Indian grapplers were in good form in this match. Cockran maintained his possession and held off his rival to win the bronze medal.

It was a one-sided affair where Cockran showed his best wrestling ability to defeat Limali by fall.

Earlier, star Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia won gold for India in the men’s 65kg final against Canada’s Lachlan McNeil.

Deepak Punia won the gold medal in the men’s freestyle 86kg final by defeating Pakistan’s Mohammad Inam 3-0 on points.

Anshu Malik had to settle for a silver medal in the women’s 57kg freestyle wrestling event at the Commonwealth Games 2022 after losing to Nigeria’s Odunayo Folasad Adekuruye.

The Commonwealth Games 2022 began in Birmingham on July 28 and will continue until August 8.
