Ibrahim Zadran Century Helps Afghanistan Take Unassailable 2-0 ODI Series Lead Vs Zimbabwe

Opening batsman Ibrahim Zadran Afghanistan beat Zimbabwe by eight wickets on Monday to take a 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series and score an unbeaten 120 runs. Last week, when the tourists won the first match by 60 runs, paying for just five runs, Zadran faced 142 balls and hit 16 fours at Harare Sports Club. He was well supported by Rahmat Shah – 94-run star of the first victory – who contributed 88 runs and was a capable partner in the second wicket stand with Zadran who scored 195 runs. Afghanistan made 229-2 with 33 balls to spare.

In addition to winning the series and taking a 17-10 lead over Zimbabwe in ODIs, third-ranked Afghanistan added another 10 points to their World Cup Super League total.


Two victories in Zimbabwe have taken them to 90 points, five less than second-placed England, who have played four more matches.

Following the last ODI on Thursday, the nations will play three Twenty20 Internationals in Harare on June 11, 12 and 14.
