Virender Sehwag explained the incident in a show, when asked how to deal with criticism.

“There are two types of players. One type of player enjoys accepting challenges. Virat Kohli. He listens to criticism, and then returns. Then there are players who do not respond to criticism because they know what they can achieve. I was that kind of player. I didn’t care who criticized me or not. This question (of retirement) came to my mind when we were in Australia in 2008. I returned to the Test series, scored 150 runs. In ODIs, I could not score that much in three or four attempts. You, MS Dhoni Dropped me from playing XI. Then the thought of quitting ODI cricket came to my mind. I thought I would just continue playing Test cricket, “said Sehwag Kirk Buzz Show ‘Match Party’.

Sachin Tendulkar This time I stopped. “It’s the worst time of your life,” he said. Just wait, go home after this tour, think hard and then decide what to do next. ” Fortunately, I did not announce my retirement at that time. I would have announced my retirement on a tour of Australia, come back to India and play only Test cricket. Times have changed. We returned to India. K Srikanth (selectors) was the chairman. He asked me ‘what to do?’ I said that despite being in good form, I was dropped from three to four matches. So, what should I do? I told him, “If you convince me that you will pick me in all the matches, then pick me or not.” Srikanth then spoke to MS Dhoni during the 2008 Asia Cup. Then Dhoni asked me about my preferred batting position and told me that I would play in all the matches. After that I played good cricket.

Sehwag last played an international match for India in 2013.
