Trent Bolt And Henry Nicholas Despite being included in the squad for Thursday’s clash at Lord’s, they could miss New Zealand’s first Test against England. Bolt played in the Indian Premier League final for Rajasthan Royals on Sunday and is unlikely to recover in five days of Test cricket. Nicholas has been ruled out of the England tour due to injury problems and the corona virus. New Zealand head coach Gary Stead said: “We will see how Trent moves forward but I spoke to him on Monday.

“When you have the IPL at the top, it adds another layer.

“We’ve been with different players before so I guess this is nothing new for us. We will deal with it and work out what is best for us in moving forward with Trent. . “

As far as Nicholas is concerned, his middle order slot should go. Daryl MitchellStead added: “At the moment we don’t think Henry is likely to play.

“Cowd has just given him another week back from where we wanted him to be, but he’s doing really well.”

Stead spoke to the new England coach and teammate Kiwi. Brendan McCullum Monday at Lord’s.

He admitted that it was unusual for one of New Zealand’s most famous players to lead an opponent.

“It sounds weird already. I’ve walked across the ground with him before. I think he went right into the dressing room; he turned left and I turned right,” Stead said.

“I haven’t thought much about Brendan and his impact because we’re focused on the way we play, but I have no doubt it will have an immediate effect.

“Brandon will bring a heart-to-heart game to this England squad. I think it’s always nice to have Kiwi coaches who are being searched around the world.”
