Reigning world champion Nakht Zarrin and Olympic bronze medalist Lolina Borgohin sealed their place in the Indian team for the Commonwealth Games on Saturday with a resounding victory in the selection trials. While the two-time Strandja Memorial Gold Medalist defeated Meenakshi of Haryana 7-0 by a unanimous decision, Lolina outscored Railway Pooja by an equal margin. Neto (48kg) and Jasmine (60kg) were other boxers who also sealed the venue for the four-year event.
Nakht seemed to be in control of her entire competition, coming down with clear punches as she danced around the ring.
Former two-time Youth World Champion Neto defeated Manju Rani, the 2019 silver medalist, 5-2.
Haryana boxer is having a good year. He won a gold medal at the Strandja Memorial Tournament earlier this year.
Jasmine, 2021 Asian Youth Boxing Championship bronze medalist, 2022 World Championship bronze medalist Parveen Hooda was punched in the fast lightweight middleweight final.
The CWG will be held in Birmingham from 28 July to 8 August.
