Senior off-spinner Ravi Chandran Ashwin A BCCI source told PTI on Monday that he had not traveled to the UK for the only “fifth test” with his teammates after a positive test for COVID-19. Ashwin is currently in quarantine and will join the squad only after fulfilling all the protocol requirements. The Indian team left for the UK on June 16. “Ashwin has not traveled to the UK with the squad as his Covid 19 test came positive before his departure. But we hope he will recover in time before the Test match starts. July 1,” he said. A BCCI source told PTI on condition of anonymity.
“However, he could miss the practice game against Leicestershire,” the source added.
The rest of the squad is already in Leicester and has started training under bowling coach Paras Mohambre and batting coach Vikram Rathore.
Under the team going to Ireland VVS Lakshman Will be leaving for Dublin on June 23 or 24 as the team members have been given three days rest.
