Top Indian Woman Cyclist Accuses Coach Of Harassment, Contingent Called Back From Slovenia

A top Indian female cyclist has accused the Sports Authority of India (SAI) of harassing national coach RK Sharma in a complaint. According to the complaint, Sharma forcibly took himself into his room on May 29 during the team’s tour of Slovenia and harassed the cyclist. NDTV has learned from its sources that the cyclist in his complaint to SAI accused the coach of asking him to “become his wife”. The Cycling Federation of India (CFI) on Wednesday, following SAI’s instructions, withdrew the entire Indian contingent from its exhibition tour of Slovenia, PTI reported.

The cyclist himself was brought back to India on June 3.

Two separate investigative panels – one by SAI and the other by CFI – have been set up to investigate the matter.

“Following the player’s compliance, SAI has brought him back to India immediately to ensure his safety and a committee has been constituted to look into the matter. This matter should be dealt with on priority basis. Has been and will be resolved soon. ” Read the statement.

The Cycling Federation of India said it has the full support of the national body.

The CFI said, “The CFI stands with the complainant, Ms. Maury Lotte and has already met with the Sports Authority of India and Ms. Maury Lotte to discuss the decision of the committee constituted by SAI. Will have full support. “
