He scored 330 runs in IPL 2022 with an average of 55 and an extraordinary strike rate of 183.33. Due to his performance, Karthik was recalled to the Team India setup.

Talking about his batting prowess in the fourth T20I, Karthik told Hardik that it was important for the team to put pressure on South Africa after the poor performance of the first 10 overs.
“As you may remember, on the flight from Visakhapatnam to Rajkot, we discussed some situations. As a middle-order batsman, you need to know who you are. You can target, it’s very comfortable to bat with you. Know what to expect, what to say.
“Initially, we don’t talk much but as the partnership progresses, we have more fun when we bat. It was a crucial innings for us, which was down 2-1 and they were in the top 10 “We were under a lot of pressure, it was a difficult wicket to bat on. So I thought it was important to put pressure on them the way we bat,” said the 37-year-old.
India will take on South Africa in the decisive match of the T20 series in Bangalore on Sunday.
