The Indo-Croatian pair of Sania Mirza and Matt Powick reached the quarterfinals of the mixed doubles event at Wimbledon on Sunday. The sixth seeded pair of Mirza and Pavik reached the mixed doubles quarterfinals when their second round rivals Ivan Dodig and Latisha Chan gave a walkover.
Mirza and Pauk defeated David Vega Hernandez of Spain and Natella Dzlamidez of Georgia 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (3) in the first round.
In their last eight matches, Mirza and Pavic will face either Brazilian pair of Bruno Suarez and Beatrice Haddad Maya or Australian-Canadian pair of John Perez and Gabriela Dabrowski.
Mirza, who has already announced his retirement at the end of this season, and his Czech partner Lucy Haradica had earlier lost in the first round of the women’s doubles event. PTI AH AH KHS KHS
